GSN COVID-19 Statement
To GSN 2020 Symposium Participants and Interested Parties:
With considerable disappointment, the GSN 2020 Symposium Planning Committee must announce plans to reschedule our event to May 2021. The rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus and related local and federal government agency directives make the original schedule for the Symposium impractical. The health and safety of our community of geoscientists and partners in exploration is our highest priority. However, we are very fortunate that the Nugget Casino Resort, our host for the Symposium, has worked hard to accommodate our change of schedule and has confirmed the availability of the same week in May 2021 for the Symposium. The technical program in 2021 will extend from Monday, May 17th to Thursday, May 20th. Field trips and short courses will precede and follow these dates.
The Symposium Planning Committee is, already, at-work developing the revised schedule. We intend to sustain the original content and schedule for the symposium to the extent possible. We hope that most of those engaged in the technical program, field trips, short courses, and exhibits will work with us as we make this significant transition to 2021. We understand that circumstances might not allow some to participate. Rest assured that the planning committee will work to accommodate those who must step away from the symposium.
The Symposium Planning Committee will be working throughout the week to flesh out the details of the transition process from the 2020 to the 2021 schedule. Some adjustments will be made in the coming months as we confirm the content of the different programs. Please stay tuned for an announcement with more details within the coming days. Also, check the Symposium website for updates (gsnsymposium.org).
Many thanks to all participants and sponsors for your contributions to making the GSN 2020 Symposium an exceptional event. Good health to all in these difficult times.
