Moira hails from Elko, Nevada. She is currently the VP of Exploration and Geoscience for Liberty Gold. She is probably overeducated. Last degree is from University of Arizona (Ph.D.), specializing in structural geology and tectonics. Moira worked for the British Columbia Geological Survey for 4 years, after which she joined Teck in 1995. At Teck, she directed project teams leading to the definition of several large deposits, including the Petaquilla Cu-Au-Mo porphyry deposit in Panama, the Pogo IRG deposit in Alaska, and the El Limon Au skarn deposit in Mexico. Moira joined Fronteer Gold in 2008, and directed the Long Canyon exploration team until the company was sold to Newmont in 2011 for over $2 billion. She has worked for Pilot Gold/Liberty Gold since 2011, and oversees teams exploring for off-trend Carlin gold systems at the Goldstrike Property in Utah and Black Pine Property in Idaho. She has been an SEG Fellow since 2005 and has contributed much time to the GSN over the last 10 years.
